Drug Interactions With Donepezil (Cont.)

Ketoconazole (Nizoral)
Ketoconazole can make it harder for donepezil to be eliminated from your body. If you are taking both ketoconazole and donepezil, you may be at an increased risk of experiencing a side effect from donepezil. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your condition more closely and make any necessary dosing adjustments.

SSRI-Type Antidepressants
SSRI antidepressants can make it harder for donepezil to be eliminated from your body. This can increase the amount of donepezil in your body and increase your risk for a side effect. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your condition more closely and make any necessary dosing adjustments or place you on a different antidepressant medicine if a side effect does occur.

Barbiturates
If you are taking donepezil with a barbiturate, your body may metabolize the drugs differently than intended. This can decrease the effectiveness of donepezil. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your progress more closely and make any necessary dosing adjustments.

Anticonvulsants
Certain anticonvulsants can cause your body to metabolize donepezil differently than intended. This can decrease the effectiveness of donepezil. If you are taking one of these medicines with donepezil, your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your progress more closely and make any necessary dosing adjustments.

Rifamycin Antibiotics
If you are taking a rifamycin antibiotic with donepezil, your body may metabolize them differently than intended. This can decrease the effectiveness of donepezil. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your progress more closely and make any necessary dosing adjustments.

St. John's Wort
St. John's wort can cause your body to metabolize donepezil differently than intended. This can decrease the effectiveness of donepezil. Let your healthcare provider know if you are taking St. John's wort with donepezil. They may choose to monitor your condition more closely and make any necessary dosing adjustments.
