Drug Interactions With Dolasetron

Atenolol, cisapride, and haloperidol are some of the medicines that may potentially interact with dolasetron. Drug interactions can affect the level of dolasetron in your blood and increase your risk of developing a dangerous irregular heart rhythm called QT prolongation. Other QT-prolonging medications that may cause drug interactions with dolasetron include vardenafil, certain antibiotics, alfuzosin, and pimozide.

Dolasetron Drug Interactions: An Overview

Dolasetron mesylate (Anzemet®) can potentially interact with a few other medications. Some of these medicines that may lead to dolasetron interactions include:
 
o Ciprofloxacin (Cipro®, Cipro XR®)
o Clarithromycin (Biaxin®, Biaxin XL®)
o Erythromycin (Ery-Tab®)
o Gemifloxacin (Factive®)
o Mefloquine (Lariam®)
o Norfloxacin (Noroxin®)
o Ofloxacin (Floxin®)
o Telithromycin (Ketek®)
o Troleandomycin (Tao®)
  • Certain arrhythmia medications, including:
o Amiodarone (Cordarone®)
o Disopyramide (Norpace®, Norpace CR®)
o Dofetilide (Tikosyn®)
o Flecainide (Tambocor®)
o Ibutilide (Corvert®)
o Procainamide (Procanbid®)
o Propafenone (Rythmol®)
o Quinidine
