Dinoprostine

Were you looking for more information about Dinoprostone? Dinoprostine is a common misspelling of dinoprostone.

Depending on the particular product used, dinoprostone (Cervidil®, Prepidil®, Prostin E2®) can be given to help prepare the cervix for labor and delivery, to terminate a pregnancy, or to empty the contents of the uterus in certain situations. This hormone-type substance comes as a vaginal insert, vaginal gel, or vaginal suppository, and is administered by a healthcare provider.

Although most women tolerate this medication well, side effects are possible and may include strong uterine contractions and stress in the baby. Women who have had a prior C-section or those who had vaginal bleeding during the pregnancy may not be able to use dinoprostone.
