Dinoprostone Vaginal Suppository Dosage

If you are going to receive a dinoprostone vaginal suppository, your dosage will depend primarily on how you respond to the drug. One suppository is inserted high into the vagina by a healthcare provider in a hospital setting. If this dose is not sufficient, additional suppositories may be given every three to five hours, up to a maximum of 48 hours.

An Introduction to Your Dosage of Dinoprostone Vaginal Suppository

The dose of the dinoprostone vaginal suppository (Prostin E2®) your healthcare provider recommends will depend on how you respond to the medication. As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Dinoprostone Vaginal Suppository Dosing Guidelines

The recommended dosage of this medication is one suppository, inserted intravaginally (into the vagina). Dinoprostone vaginal suppositories should be brought to room temperature and the foil removed before use. If the first dose does not produce the desired response, your healthcare provider may recommend additional suppositories every three to five hours.
