Desoximetasone Gel
Your healthcare provider may recommend desoximetasone gel to treat eczema, psoriasis, or various other skin conditions. This steroid medication is applied to the affected areas of the skin twice daily, and should be used sparingly to avoid an increased risk for side effects. It works by suppressing the immune system and decreasing inflammation. Common side effects include dryness, itching, and burning.
Desoximetasone gel (Topicort®) is a prescription skin medication. It belongs to a group of medications known as topical steroids and is used to treat inflammation and itching due to a wide variety of skin conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, and allergic reactions.

Just like any medicine, desoximetasone gel may cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well.
If reactions do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
Common side effects of desoximetasone gel include but are not limited to:
- Burning
- Irritation
- Itching
- Dryness.
