Desoximetasone Gel Side Effects

Dryness, burning, and itching of the skin are some of the commonly reported side effects of desoximetasone gel. However, most people are able to use this medication without any problems. Contact your healthcare provider if you are using desoximetasone gel and develop symptoms such as infections, ruptured tendons, or severe fluid retention.

An Introduction to Side Effects of Desoximetasone Gel

Just like any medicine, desoximetasone gel (Topicort®) can cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the medication will have problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.

Desoximetasone Gel Side Effects to Report

Some side effects are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
 
  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • High blood sugar (hyperglycemia) or diabetes
  • Infections
  • Ruptured tendons
  • Psychotic reactions, such as hallucinations or extreme aggression
  • Glaucoma
  • Severe fluid retention
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, such as:
 
    • An unexplained rash
    • Hives
    • Itching
    • Unexplained swelling
    • Difficulty breathing or swallowing.
