What Should I Do If I Miss a Dose of Desonide?

If you forget to use this medication, apply it as soon as possible, unless it is almost time for the next dose of desonide, in which case you should simply skip the one you missed and continue with your regular schedule. Do not apply a double dose.

Storage Information

Desonide should be stored at room temperature. Keep this and all other medications out of the reach of children and pets.

Who Makes Desonide?

Brand-name DesOwen cream, ointment, and lotion are made by DPT Laboratories, Ltd., for Galderma Laboratories, LP. Generic versions of DesOwen are made by various manufacturers. Verdeso foam is made by Stiefel Laboratories, Inc. Desonate gel is made by Contract Pharmaceuticals Limited for Intendis.

This medication comes in the following strengths and forms:
  • Desonide 0.05% ointment (DesOwen)
  • Desonide 0.05% cream (DesOwen)
  • Desonide 0.05% lotion (DesOwen)
  • Desonide 0.5% gel (Desonate)
  • Desonide 0.5% foam (Verdeso).

Is There a Generic Version of Desonide?

Desonide ointment, cream, and lotion are available in generic form (see Generic DesOwen). The foam and gel are not yet available as generics (see Generic Desonate and Generic Verdeso for more information).
