Drug Interactions With Cyanocobalamin Nasal Spray

Colchicine
Long-term use of colchicine may interfere with the absorption of vitamin B12 from the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Although this would not directly react with cyanocobalamin nasal spray, as this medicine is sprayed into the nostril, it could decrease the effectiveness of cyanocobalamin nasal spray by worsening your vitamin B12 deficiency. Talk to your healthcare provider about this potential interaction if you take colchicine.

Folic Acid
Folic acid can mask vitamin B12 deficiency. This means it will be more difficult for your healthcare provider to determine if you have a B12 deficiency from simple blood tests. If you are using cyanocobalamin nasal spray, do not take folic acid unless your healthcare provider recommends it.

Methotrexate
Although it does not directly react with cyanocobalamin nasal spray, methotrexate can interfere with the results of vitamin B12 and folic acid blood tests. These tests are used to monitor your response to treatment with cyanocobalamin nasal spray.

Para-Aminosalicylic Acid
Para-aminosalicylic acid may interfere with the absorption of vitamin B12 from the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Although this would not directly interact with cyanocobalamin nasal spray, as this medicine is sprayed into the nostril, it could decrease the effectiveness of cyanocobalamin nasal spray by worsening your vitamin B12 deficiency. Talk to your healthcare provider about this potential interaction if you take para-aminosalicylic acid.

Pyrimethamine
Although it does not directly react with cyanocobalamin nasal spray, pyrimethamine can interfere with the results of vitamin B12 and folic acid blood tests, which are used to assess your response to cyanocobalamin nasal spray treatment.
