Cordran Lotion Uses

Cordran Lotion can help relieve itching and other symptoms of many skin conditions, such as eczema or psoriasis. This prescription medicine works by reducing inflammation and suppressing an overactive immune system. It is not recommended to use Cordran Lotion for long periods of time, as doing so can increase the risk for serious side effects.

What Is Cordran Lotion Used For?

Cordran® Lotion (flurandrenolide lotion) is a prescription skin medication approved to treat inflammation and itching due to a wide variety of conditions. Some of these conditions include but are not limited to:
Specifically, Cordran Lotion is approved to treat any skin condition that is responsive to corticosteroids.
As with other steroids, long-term use should typically be avoided, due to the risk of serious side effects; however, Cordran Lotion is a relatively mild steroid, compared with many other steroid medications.
As a lotion, this medication is easy to apply and is less likely to leave greasy stains on clothing (compared to ointments). For people who do not prefer lotions, Cordran SP Cream and Cordran Tape are also available.

How Does This Medicine Work?

Cordran Lotion is part of a group of medications known as glucocorticoids, which are a type of corticosteroid (or "steroid" for short). Although glucocorticoids have numerous effects in the body, they are used mostly for their anti-inflammatory or immune-suppressing properties. Cordran Lotion works by decreasing inflammation and suppressing an overactive immune system.

Is It Safe for Children to Use Cordran Lotion?

This medication is not specifically approved for use in children. In addition, this drug is not approved to treat a diaper rash and should never be applied to the diaper area, as doing so can increase the risk for side effects. Children are at an increased risk for serious side effects of steroids, especially if the medication is kept covered (such as by a diaper).
