There are also combination medicines available, such as Vytorin® or Advicor®.
 
For lowering cholesterol and/or triglycerides, the type of medicine that your healthcare provider recommends will be based on many things, like your cholesterol levels (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglycerides), heart disease risk factors, and other medical conditions. Each of these types of cholesterol medicines works a little differently, so depending on your situation, these colestipol alternatives may or may not be suitable for you.
