Claforan Dose

When using Claforan® (cefotaxime), the specific dose your healthcare provider prescribes will vary, depending on several factors. Some of the factors that may affect your dosage include your age, weight, and the type and severity of the infection being treated.
Claforan is given by intravenous (IV) or intramuscular (IM) injection. It can be given as a single dose for less serious infections, or it may be given as multiple doses every 4 to 12 hours for more serious infections. For serious infections, it is usually best to give this drug by IV rather than an intramuscular injection.
