Drug Interactions With Carmustine Implant

Although it is not exactly clear whether carmustine implants would cause interactions with other drugs, there is a potential for problems. For example, it is generally recommended that people who are receiving chemotherapy treatment with carmustine implants not receive live vaccinations due to the risk for infections. Clozapine and biologic medicines are other products that may cause problems with carmustine implants.

An Overview of Carmustine Implant Interactions

At this time, it is not entirely clear if carmustine implants (Gliadel®) would interact with other medicines. This is because this product is implanted directly into the brain, and it is unknown how much (if any) of the medication is absorbed into the body, where it could potentially react with other medicines. Until more information is known, it is probably best to be aware of potential carmustine implant drug interactions.
