Berinert can be stored refrigerated or at room temperature. Keep the medication in its original carton, protected from light, until ready for use. Do not allow the medication to freeze.
Berinert must be dissolved in Sterile Water for Injection before use. Once prepared, the drug must be used within eight hours. If you do not use the prepared dose within eight hours of mixing, throw it away. Also, discard any unused medicine remaining in the vial after each dose, as the vials do not contain preservatives.
Keep this and all medications out of the reach of children and pets.
Because this medication is taken as needed to treat attacks associated with hereditary angioedema, it is unlikely that you will forget a dose. If you have an attack and you forget to use this medication, use it as soon as you remember. If your attack has progressed to the point where you cannot safely prepare a dose or inject yourself with it, seek immediate medical attention.
Berinert is available in one strength: Berinert 500 units per single-use vial.
