Beclomethasone Nasal Spray

Beclomethasone nasal spray is used for preventing the return of nasal polyps after surgical removal and treating allergic and non-allergic rhinitis. The prescription medication, which is a type of steroid, decreases inflammation by limiting the body's ability to produce an immune system reaction. Beclomethasone nasal spray is typically used twice daily. Side effects may include sneezing and nose or throat irritation.

What Is Beclomethasone Nasal Spray?

Beclomethasone nasal spray (Beconase^® AQ) is a prescription medication approved for the following uses:

Treating sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, and nasal itching due to allergies (known medically as allergic rhinitis), including seasonal and year-round allergies
Treating similar nasal symptoms caused by irritants, rather than allergies (known medically as non-allergic rhinitis)
Preventing the return of nasal polyps after surgical removal.

Beclomethasone Nasal Spray Side Effects

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with beclomethasone nasal spray. However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.

Common side effects of beclomethasone nasal spray include but are not limited to:

Irritation of the nose or throat
Occasional sneezing attacks.
