Beclomethasone Nasal Aerosol
Your healthcare provider may recommend treatment with beclomethasone nasal aerosol to help relieve nasal symptoms caused by seasonal or year-round (perennial) allergies. This "dry" nasal spray is a type of steroid and works by decreasing inflammation. Two sprays are used in each nostril once daily. Nasal discomfort, headaches, and nosebleeds are some of the possible side effects.
Beclomethasone nasal aerosol (Qnasl™) is a prescription steroid nasal spray licensed to treat both seasonal allergies and allergies that occur all year long (known as perennial allergies). Specifically, this product can be used to treat sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, and nasal itching due to allergies (known medically as allergic rhinitis).
Beclomethasone nasal aerosol is the first "dry" nasal steroid product available in the United States. Some people may prefer beclomethasone nasal aerosol over the traditional, water-based nasal sprays, as it does not usually result in fluid dripping down the back of the throat or out of the nose.

Just like any medicine, beclomethasone nasal aerosol may cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well.
If reactions do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
Common side effects of beclomethasone nasal aerosol include but are not limited to:
- Nasal discomfort
- Headache
- Nosebleed.
