Azelastine (Cont.)

Dosage Information

The dosage that your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:
 
  • Your age
  • Whether your nasal symptoms are caused by allergies or irritants
  • Other medications you may be taking
  • Other medical conditions you may have.
     
As with any medication, do not adjust your azelastine dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.

What If I Take an Overdose of Azelastine?

In most instances, an overdose of azelastine is unlikely to cause serious problems. Even using an entire bottle at once is not likely to cause serious overdose symptoms. However, an extremely large dose may cause problems.

What Should I Do If I Miss a Dose?

If you forget to take your azelastine dose, take your missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose.
 

Is There a Generic Version of Azelastine?

Currently, there are no generic versions of the drug licensed for sale (see Generic Astelin).
