Dosage Information

The dosage that your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:
  • Your age
  • Whether your nasal symptoms are caused by allergies or irritants
  • Other medications you may be taking
  • Other medical conditions you may have.
As with any medication, do not adjust your azelastine dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
(Click Azelastine Dosing for more information.)

Drug Interactions

Azelastine can potentially interact with a number of other medications (see Drug Interactions With Azelastine).

What If I Take an Overdose of Azelastine?

In most instances, an overdose of azelastine is unlikely to cause serious problems. Even using an entire bottle at once is not likely to cause serious overdose symptoms. However, an extremely large dose may cause problems.
(Click Astelin Overdose or Astepro Overdose for more information.)

What Should I Do If I Miss a Dose?

If you forget to take your azelastine dose, take your missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose.

Is There a Generic Version of Azelastine?

Currently, there are no generic versions of the drug licensed for sale (see Generic Astelin or Generic Astepro).
