Side Effects of Aprepitant

Loss of appetite, weakness or fatigue, and hair loss are some of the most common side effects of aprepitant. While side effects are minor in most cases, there are a number of potentially serious problems that should be reported to a healthcare provider immediately, including fainting, confusion, and anxiety or depression. Other rare but possible aprepitant side effects include gas, back pain, and acne.

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with aprepitant (Emend^®); however, not everyone who takes the medication will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Serious Side Effects of Aprepitant

Some side effects with aprepitant, while occurring infrequently, are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include, but are not limited to:

Anxiety or depression
Confusion
Heart palpitations or chest pain
Severe or sharp leg pain
Fainting
Difficulty breathing
Signs of an allergic reaction, including unexplained rash, hives, itching, and unexplained swelling.
