Drug Interactions With Ambrisentan

Ambrisentan (Letairis®) is a prescription medicine used in the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension. It belongs to a group of medicines known as endothelin receptor antagonists.

This medication can potentially interact with other medicines. More specifically, ambrisentan can interact with cyclosporine (Gengraf®, Neoral®, Sandimmune®), a medication used to prevent organ rejection after transplants and to treat certain types of arthritis and psoriasis.

Cyclosporine can increase ambrisentan blood levels, potentially increasing the risk for ambrisentan side effects. The dose of ambrisentan should not exceed 5 mg a day in people who are also taking cyclosporine.

It is possible that not all drug interactions with ambrisentan were discussed in this article. Therefore, you should talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about any specific interactions that may apply to you.
