Before prescribing
Afinitor® (
everolimus), your healthcare provider will take into consideration several factors when determining your dosage. Some of these factors include the medical condition being treated, how you respond to Afinitor, and other medications you are taking. Afinitor tablets come in three strengths: 2.5 mg, 5 mg, and 10 mg.
The recommended Afinitor dose for treating advanced pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (PNET) and advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is 10 mg once daily. This amount may be adjusted if you are taking certain medications or have liver disease. For treating subependymal giant cell astrocytoma (SEGA), a rare type of brain tumor, the dose ranges between 2.5 mg and 7.5 mg daily.
