Actonel Drug Interactions

When aspirin, iron supplements, or certain medications are taken with Actonel, drug interactions may occur. Food and beverages (other than water) can also interact with Actonel, preventing it from being absorbed into the body and making it less effective. To reduce your risk of Actonel drug interactions, do not eat or drink anything (besides water) at least 30 minutes after taking your Actonel dosage.

 

Actonel Drug Interactions: An Overview

Actonel® (risedronate sodium) can potentially interact with a number of other medications. Some of the medicines that may lead to Actonel drug interactions include:
 
  • Aspirin
     
  • Calcium products
     
  • Iron supplements
     
  • Magnesium products
     
  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as:
 
 
Food and beverages (other than water) can also interact with Actonel, preventing the drug from being absorbed into the body and making it less effective. Actonel should be taken with water in the morning on an empty stomach. Do not eat or drink anything (besides water) for at least 30 minutes after taking your Actonel dosage.
